I first picked up a camera 23 years
ago, when I was given a second-hand Nikkormat FTn for my 16th
birthday. For many years I'd only use the camera when I went on
holiday and I would take the usual sort of holiday snaps. It wasn't
until I joined my local camera club that my interest really
blossomed.
Over the years, my style has changed quite dramatically. When I
look back at my earlier work, I shudder at what I produced.
Nowadays I am much more content with the images I produce. Over
recent years it has been wildlife photography that has kept my
interest the longest. In January of 2006, I was lucky enough to
join a voyage that went from Tierra del Fuego to The Falklands,
South Georgia, Elephant Island and Antarctica. It was undoubtedly
one of the most amazing trips which I shall ever take! The scenery
was stunning and the wildlife incredibly abundant.
In 2005 I opened my first solo exhibition at the Floor One Gallery,
in Rugby, England. It was a great success, with lots of visitors
and some very nice comments. In 2007 I staged my second solo
exhibition showcasing some of my favourite images from my Antarctic
voyage. Again, the exhibition was a great success and I donated
over £120 to the Save the Albatross appeal. Seeing these
magnificent birds was one of the highlights of my Antarctic trip
and it is a crying shame that their population is declining so
rapidly due mainly to long-line fishing.
